"Waffle Irons" (or curling irons or wave irons or crimping irons) do not produce "nappy" hair. They do not make the hair coarse and kinky.

Curl alone does not mean "nappy"

Hair texture (not meaning curly vs straight) varies by race.

Folks keep managing to dodge the references to slavery and "nappy" being "outside slave" and "good hair" being "house slave". It goes back that far, and that's where the derogatory references come from. That's why it's racist.

whats funny is that i actually remember that being covered in school.......what i dont remember was finding a reference to "nappy" being used to classify slaves in a textbook

if you can provide me with a textbook that was used from the time in school (i graduated HS in 96)......find me one from any HS that would have been in use.....and i might say you have a valid argument.....until then......dont hurt yourself when you reach

Go find any black woman and say to her "I love your nappy hair" and see what happens. Use a large sample size. Try it out with many.
